Stunning Vallarta Nayarit in One Minute

Turismo de Mexico has a new campaign that just launched and it is seriously making me want to book a last-minute plane ticket to Puerta Vallarta stay there indefinitely. In terms of my own Mexico travel, I’ve been to Cozumel and the Los Cabos area and while both of those trips were truly memorable, there is still a huge chunk of the country that I have yet to see. Although this video is only 60 seconds long, it definitely gets its point across.

For those unfamiliar with Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit, it is located in Sierra Madre Occidental and boasts both natural beauty and cultural heritage. Having not been here myself, the video gives me a good sense of what this destination is all about without overwhelming me with information.

Technically, Puerta Vallarta is not part of Riviera Nayarit but it is the “gateway to the region,” according to Fodor’s. Many travelers spend a few days in both locales. Unlike some Mexican hotspots, it’s quite possible and generally recommended to stay in the heart of downtown Puerto Vallarta. The architecture is well preserved and features centuries-old buildings and romantic cobbled streets plus statues, churches and a main plaza.

Besides the stunning landscapes shown throughout its one-minute run, it’s the copy that really gets me. Phrases like “I never thought luxury and nature could go so hand in hand,” “it’s such a peaceful place yet so full of life,” “a place with the artistic beat of a big city but the flavor of a traditional Mexican town,” “A place where by doing nothing you can get so much,” and “a beach hidden by the earth,” and “some things can’t be explained. You have to experience it.”

One thing that I always look for in a destination is versatility. If I’m traveling solo, this isn’t as big of a deal but if I’m traveling with my husband or with friends I want there to be enough to see and do that interests each member of my group. During my previous visits to Mexico, I stayed at all-inclusive resorts and noticed that many guests rarely left the resort, if at all. I remember wondering why they traveled all the way to Mexico if they didn’t plan on leaving the pool.

In the case of Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit, nature and culture are very much intertwined so I have no doubt that travelers are more eager to experience the local culture rather than sleeping by the pool all day…not that there is anything wrong with that! I’m all about combining work and play but it’s much easier when art, music, and history are at one’s fingertips and easily accessible.

According to Fodor’s, The Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit s the only all-inclusive resort on the Pacific Coast to be awarded Five Diamonds by AAA so I can understand not wanting to leave. It’s located right on the beach so whether you’re looking for a rejuvenating retreat or an outdoor adventure, there’s something for every taste and temperament.
